Prosecutors


 

The court does not employ any of the prosecutors or their staff. The prosecutors are part of the executive branch of the government, a separate branch of the justice system. The court is part of the judicial branch of the government. In the Oberlin Municipal Court there are several prosecutors that represent the various territories in the Oberlin Municipal Court district. You may wish to review the Informational Presentation – Roles in the Justice System found on the Home Page. The prosecutors that actively practice in the Oberlin Municipal Court are listed below:

Amherst Prosecutor
The Amherst city prosecutor handles offenses that occur in the City of Amherst. The prosecutors are Frank Carlson and Joe Bott. The prosecutors are appointed by the Amherst Law Director. The law director is an elected position. The law director is Anthony Pecora. Cases are heard on Thursday mornings, two Thursday afternoons per month, and some Friday afternoons. Other hearings for City of Amherst cases may also be scheduled on Tuesday or Friday mornings between 10:00AM and12:00PM. The Amherst prosecutor can be reached at 440-776-4847.
 

Oberlin Prosecutor
The Oberlin city prosecutor handles offenses that occur in the City of Oberlin and in unincorporated areas in the jurisdiction of the Oberlin Municipal Court. The prosecutor is Michelle Nedwick.  The Oberlin Law Director appoints the prosecutor. The Law Director is Eric Severs. City Council appoints the Law Director. Most hearings handled by the Oberlin prosecutor are held on Tuesday afternoon and Wednesdays. Prosecutor Nedwick can be reached at 440-774-8519.   


Wellington Prosecutor

The Wellington Village prosecutor handles offenses that occur in the Village of Wellington. The prosecutor is Donald Zaleski. Assistants include Zach Simonoff and Melissa Kobasher. The Mayor appoints the Prosecutor. The Law Director is Stephen Bond. Village Council appoints the Law Director. Most hearings handled by the Wellington prosecutor are held on the 1st, 3rd and 5th Thursday of the month in the afternoon. Trials and motion hearings may also be scheduled on Friday mornings from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. The Wellington prosecutor can be reached at 440-776-4847.

Kipton Prosecutor
The Kipton prosecutor handles offenses that occur in the Village of Kipton. The Village of Kipton prosecutor is Margaret O’Bryon. Ms. O’Bryon is also the Law Director for the Village of Kipton. She is appointed by Village Council. Most hearings handled by the Kipton prosecutor are held on the 3rd Thursday of the month in the afternoon. Trials and motion hearings may also be scheduled on Friday mornings from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Miss O’Bryon can be reached at 440-776-4847.


South Amherst Prosecutor
The South Amherst Prosecutor handles offenses that occur in the Village of South Amherst.  The Village of South Amherst prosecutor is Michelle Nedwick. The South Amherst Prosecutor is appointed by the South Amherst Law Director. The South Amherst Law Director is Quentin Nolan. The Law Director is appointed by Village Council. Hearings for the Village of South Amherst are held on Wednesday morning from 9:30 A.M. – 12:00 P.M. or Wednesday afternoon from 1:00 – 4:00 P.M. or Tuesday afternoon from 1:00 – 4:00 P.M.
