Court

Normal Hours of the Court are Monday - Friday from 8:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M.

In addition to the normal hours of the court cases may be scheduled outside normal hours during periods of high volume of filing of cases.

The normal daily schedule of the Court is:

Monday

All jury trials and some bench trials are held on Mondays at 8:30A.M.

Any other type of hearing may be scheduled whenr no trial is scheduled.

Tuesday

Arraignments are scheduled in court on Tuesdays at 8:30 A.M. Video hearings are held at approximately 9:30 A.M.

Small claims hearings may be scheduled at 11:00 a.m.

Preliminary Hearings for the City of Amherst and Village of Wellington may be scheduled between 10:00 A.M. and 12:00 p.m.

On Tuesday afternoon hearings and bench trials are held for cases handled by the Oberlin Prosecutor.

Wednesday

On Wednesday mornings hearings and bench trials are held for cases handled by the South Amherst Prosecutor and Oberlin Prosecutor.

Most Community Control related hearings are held in the morning (e.g. Probable Cause Hearings, Merits Hearings, Imposition of Jail hearings, Diversion Hearings).

On Wednesday afternoons hearings and bench trials are held for cases handled by the Oberlin Prosecutor and South Amherst Prosecutor.

Thursday

On Thursday mornings hearings and trials of cases handled by the Amherst Prosecutor are held.

On the second and fourth Thursdays of each month hearings and trials are held in the afternoon on cases filed in the Amherst jurisdiction mainly for charges related to driving under suspension and without a valid license.

On the first, third and fifth Thursday afternoon mainly hearings and trials are held for cases handled by the Wellington Prosecutor.

On the first, third and fifth Thursday afternoon eviction hearings and other civil hearings if time permits.

Friday

Arraignments are scheduled on Fridays at 8:30 A.M. Video hearings are held at approximately 9:30 A.M.

Preliminary Hearings for the City of Amherst may be scheduled between 10:00 A.M. and 12:00 P.M.
