A person
charged with a crime with a possible penalty of incarceration is
entitled to representation by an attorney. If the person cannot
afford an attorney the court is required to appoint an attorney
at no cost to the person charged with the crime. The State of
Ohio provides guidelines as to whether a person qualifies for a
court appointed attorney. In order to make this determination
the person provides information to the court regarding his/her
finances, family situation and income history. This information
is provided under oath.
